A Healing Retreat Centre on Cortes Island, British Columbia, dedicated to the profound experience of immersing oneself in complete darkness.
Land, Design and Intention
Each aspect in the creation of Nocturna Domes was merged intentionally. The goal was to create an energetic living design that weaves potency and potential with land and place. A space to illuminate the shadow, awaken to the divine, and lend our efforts to humanity’s return.
Cortes Island is alive and unfiltered. It is a place that expresses it’s beauty with stunning coastlines and majestic forests. Those who spend time here can feel the interconnectedness that lives within the human experience and the natural world.
The domes were selected as instruments. Their form draws on the ancient tradition of sacred geometry. The circle, with no beginning or end, symbolizes wholeness and unity, creating a symbolic meeting place between the earthly and the divine.
In collaboration with a master numerologist the decision to build five outer domes was made clear. Five is the number of alchemy and union. It reflects the balance of feminine and masculine, and the weaving of light and dark.
The Wisdom Within Darkness
Across ancient cultures and spiritual traditions, darkness has long been regarded as a place of initiation and profound inner discovery. When entered with intention, it offers an opportunity to turn away from the familiar and encounter ourselves beyond the identities, beliefs and stories we have come to know.
Perhaps the most ancient school of mystery, darkness offers a rare and honest encounter with all that lives within. It opens us to a limitless depth to witness and experience all of who we are.
For some, this experience feels like a homecoming, a remembering of truth and a deeper understanding of what has always lived within. For others, it may be an entirely new encounter with themselves. Whatever arises, there is potential for a deeper sense of wholeness through the presence of meeting ourselves fully and all that lives within.
